EVALUATION
A comprehensive evaluation (30-90 mins) is very important for those with a suspected communication disorder. Testing will compare the client’s skills to others of the same age (via norm and/or criterion-referenced tests). Specific areas of assessment are based on screening results and/or expressed concerns.
If an evaluation has been completed within the last 6 months or your child has an up-to-date Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or ARD, information from these documents can be used to comparison basis. We do however, require all new patients receive assessments from us before beginning therapy. This is necessary to determine progress made, goal setting, and appropriate services.
SPECIAL EDUCATION & EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES
We have considerable experience working in the public-school setting, with routine participation in Individualized Education (IEP) and Eligibility meetings for children with special needs. We are able to mentor parents regarding the process and provide input after reviewing your child’s ARDs and IEPs. This is offered complimentary to all existing clients. For those requesting non-client/patient consultation, we do charge for this service. Please contact our office for more information. This service is open to all residents of Texas, California and Vermont.
TREATMENT
Therapy is guided by your individual needs and areas of weakness.
Children – Our speech services are provided in our office, at your home, virtually, in daycares or your child’s preschool. Speech therapy is usually scheduled for two visits per week for a 3-6 months period before completing a re-evaluation to determine continued need. Length of speech therapy services for children ranges from 20-40 minutes of direct/indirect therapy, depending on your child’s specific needs.
Adults – Speech therapy typically ranges from 45-60 minutes again dependent on the patient needs. Services can be provided in the patient’s home, virtually through a secure HIPAA compliant platform or in our clinic.
Consistent attendance is important to demonstrate progress and is often required by 3rd party sources to ensure continued coverage.
For individuals in California and Vermont, all speech therapy is provided by teletherapy or virtually.
